Quick verdict
Two powder-coated cast iron clamps that grip a deck rail or post up to 1.9 inches thick and hold a pole from 0.58 to 1.28 inches in diameter, for tiki torches, citronella candles, string light poles, flags and umbrellas. They adjust between horizontal rails and vertical posts and need no drilling, so a rental deck or a composite rail stays unmarked. Cast iron is heavy and strong; tighten them well and check the pole size before buying.
Strengths
- No drilling; clamps to rails or posts
- Holds poles from 0.58 to 1.28 inches
- Adjusts for horizontal rails or vertical posts up to 1.9 inches
- Powder-coated cast iron resists rust
- Works for torches, lights, flags and umbrellas
Weaknesses
- Thick rails over 1.9 inches will not fit
- Thin-walled composite rails can dent under hard clamping
- Tall poles in wind load the clamp; use two per pole

Torches on the Rail, No Holes in the Deck
Tiki torches and string light poles want to be at railing height around a deck, and the usual answer is a bracket screwed into the rail. On a composite rail or a rental that is not an option. RTNLIT’s clamps grip the rail or post instead: cast iron, powder coated, holding poles from 0.58 to 1.28 inches on rails up to 1.9 inches thick, adjustable for horizontal or vertical mounting, sold as a pair.
This review is based on the listing specifications and on how clamp-on rail brackets perform generally. We have not used these clamps ourselves and the brand is a generic importer.
Fitting
Open the clamp, set it over the rail or post, tighten the screw until it grips, then slide the pole into the ring and tighten that. For a vertical post the clamp rotates so the pole ring stays upright. Two minutes per clamp, no tools, and nothing left behind when you remove it.
What It Holds
Bamboo and metal tiki torches, citronella candle poles, string light poles, flagpoles and umbrella shafts within the diameter range. The powder coating keeps the cast iron from rusting onto a painted rail. For a tall light pole in wind, fit two clamps a foot apart on a post so the pole cannot lever a single clamp loose.
Protecting the Rail
Cast iron jaws on a composite or painted rail can dent or scratch when cranked tight. A strip of rubber, inner tube or leather between jaw and rail spreads the load and prevents marks. Hand tight is enough; the clamp is heavy and the grip is wide.
Sizes
Check two numbers before buying: the rail thickness, which must be under 1.9 inches, and the pole diameter, which must be between 0.58 and 1.28 inches. Most torch poles and 2x rails qualify; a 4×4 post does not.
Who Should Buy It
- Deck owners who want torches or lights without screw holes.
- Renters with a balcony or deck.
- Boat and bleacher owners mounting flags and lights.
Common Owner Complaints
Poles too thick or thin for the ring and marks on soft rails. Measure first and pad the jaws.
Seasonal Use
Because nothing is drilled, the clamps come off in autumn with the torches and go back on in spring without a trace. Store them dry; cast iron under powder coat is fine outdoors but a chipped coating rusts in a damp shed. A dab of enamel on any chip keeps them looking new for years.
Alternatives to Consider
Screw-on deck torch brackets are more permanent. A patio umbrella base holds poles on the deck surface. Fence post caps with pole sockets suit wood posts.
Verdict
For hanging torches, lights or flags from a railing you cannot drill, these clamps do it in cast iron for a fair price. Check the two sizes, pad the jaws and use two for anything tall.

RTNLIT Set of 2 Cast Iron Deck and Railing Clamp Brackets for Poles 0.58 to 1.28 Inches FAQs
Yes for poles within the diameter range. Use two clamps spaced apart on a vertical post for a tall pole so wind does not lever one clamp loose.
A rubber pad or a strip of inner tube between the clamp and a composite or painted rail prevents dents and scratches. Tighten firmly but not with tools.
A 2x4 is 1.5 inches thick, so yes. A 2x6 on edge is 1.5 inches too; the limit is the 1.9 inch jaw opening.
The maker lists both. Any rail or tube within the jaw size will take it.
