Deck and longevity
Cast aluminum does not rust and does not dent on roots. The Toro steel deck is well made and will still rust at the lip after years of wet clippings. For a decade of ownership the EGO deck is the strongest argument on this page.
Cut and mulch
The Toro Recycler deck recirculates clippings until they vanish. The EGO single Peak Power blade cuts evenly and mulches well; it is a fine cut rather than an exceptional one.
Drive and handling
Personal Pace matches walking speed without a lever and owners praise it above every other self-propel. Touch Drive is intuitive with a speed dial. The Toro is lighter and turns more easily.
Runtime and platform
The EGO 12 Ah pack covers a half acre with reserve; the Toro 7.5 Ah pack covers a half acre in dry grass. EGO 56V runs more tools than Toro 60V and is more widely sold.
Storage
SmartStow stands the Toro on end in a shed corner. The EGO folds its handle and takes floor space.
Yard jobs this decides
A half acre, roots, a wet climate or a long ownership plan: the EGO. A tight shed, slopes and the finest mulch: the Toro.
Warranty and support
On the EGO Power+, EGO covers tools with a five-year limited warranty and packs with three years. On the Toro 60V, Toro covers its 60V Flex-Force line with a three-year full warranty. Both makers run service networks in the US and both honor the warranty only with proof of purchase, so keep the receipt with the manual. Registration takes a few minutes online and is worth doing the day the tool arrives.
Care and storage
Both are brushless battery tools and both last longest with the same habits: hose or brush debris off after each use, store packs indoors at partial charge through the winter rather than empty or full, and keep the machine out of direct sun in a shed. Neither needs oil changes, spark plugs or fuel stabilizer. A pack left at zero through a cold winter is the most common cause of a dead tool in spring on either platform.
Common owner complaints
EGO owners mention price and weight. Toro owners mention the smaller platform. Both are reliable.
Which one should you buy
Buy the LM2206SP for the aluminum deck, the big pack and the platform. Buy the Toro 21568 for handling, mulch and storage.
Our verdict
The EGO LM2206SP edges this comparison as the better long-term buy. The Toro 60V Super Recycler 21568 is the nicer mower to push.
