Quick verdict
Eight inches of deck against an aluminum deck and a broad platform. The Ryobi finishes a flat acre faster; the EGO fits a normal lawn, lasts longer and shares its battery with a whole yard. Under a half acre, or anywhere with a gate or a slope, the EGO. A flat open acre, the Ryobi.

Coverage
The Ryobi covers an acre in roughly the time the EGO covers two thirds of it, on a flat lawn with few obstacles. With beds, trees, a gate and a slope the Ryobi loses that time to backing up and the EGO wins it back.
Deck and longevity
Cast aluminum does not rust and shrugs off roots. The Ryobi steel deck is thick and well painted and will still rust at the lip over years of wet clippings. For a long ownership plan the EGO deck is the stronger argument.
Maneuverability
The Ryobi is heavy and wide and turns slowly. The EGO turns around a tree in one motion, fits a standard gate and climbs a slope without strain.
Batteries and platform
EGO 56V packs run the broadest battery yard range sold. Ryobi 80V runs a few big tools; the Ryobi 40V and 18V ranges use different packs. The Ryobi dual port holds two packs for the acre claim; the EGO 12 Ah pack covers a half acre with reserve.
Yard jobs this decides
A quarter to a half acre with beds and a gate: the EGO. A flat acre with few obstacles and a wide gate: the Ryobi. Anything with a slope or a long ownership plan: the EGO.
Warranty and support
On the EGO Power+, EGO covers tools with a five-year limited warranty and packs with three years. On the Ryobi 80V, Ryobi covers ONE+ tools and batteries with a three-year limited warranty. Both makers run service networks in the US and both honor the warranty only with proof of purchase, so keep the receipt with the manual. Registration takes a few minutes online and is worth doing the day the tool arrives.
Common owner complaints
LM2206SP owners mention price. Ryobi 30-inch owners mention weight, width through gates and battery cost. Both are reliable.
Which one should you buy
Buy the LM2206SP for a normal lawn, a long ownership plan and a yard full of EGO tools. Buy the Ryobi 30-inch for a flat acre where time per mow matters most.
Our verdict
The EGO LM2206SP takes this comparison for most lawns. The Ryobi 80V 30-inch is the right tool for a flat acre.
