Quick verdict
A thickened aluminium telescoping pole that extends from 5 to 12 feet, giving about 20 feet of reach held overhead, with a deep metal basket and a foam pad that catches fruit without bruising. Thick-walled aluminium is the point: it flexes less than thin steel or plastic poles at full length, so the basket goes where you aim it. It is light enough for a long session and suits apples, pears, mangoes, citrus and avocados. Twelve feet is a little short for very tall trees.
Strengths
- Thick-walled aluminium flexes less than thin poles at full extension
- About 20 feet of reach with the pole held overhead
- Deep basket with foam pad protects fruit
- Light enough for a long picking session
- Locks firmly at intermediate lengths
Weaknesses
- Twelve feet of pole; very tall trees need the 13 to 15 foot class
- Basket wires can snag leafy twigs
- Aluminium dents if dropped on stone
The overall YardToolLab Score is out of 100. Section scores are out of 10.
A Pole That Goes Where You Point It
The frustration with fruit pickers is the wobble: at full length a thin pole sways and the basket misses the fruit. MAVRIZ’s picker uses thick-walled aluminium that resists that flex, extending from 5 to 12 feet, with a deep metal basket and a foam pad in the bottom so apples and pears land softly. Held overhead it reaches fruit about 20 feet up.
This review is based on the listing specifications and on how aluminium telescoping fruit pickers perform generally. We have not used this picker ourselves.
Rigidity
Aluminium tube with thick walls is stiffer per pound than thin steel and far stiffer than plastic. The result is a basket that stays under the fruit while you twist, which makes picking at height faster and less tiring. Some flex at 12 feet is physics; thick aluminium keeps it manageable.
The Basket
Deep wire sides hold three to five apples before lowering, and the foam pad takes the drop. Push the basket up so the fruit sits inside, catch the stem on a wire and twist. Firm fruit comes away clean; soft fruit should be hand picked lower down.
Reach
Twelve feet of pole plus the height of raised arms puts the basket near 20 feet, which covers most home fruit trees and all dwarf and semi-dwarf ones. For an old standard pear or a tall mango, a 13 to 15 foot picker reaches further.
Weight and Care
Aluminium keeps the whole tool light enough to hold overhead for an hour. It dents if dropped on stone, so lean it against the tree between baskets. Rinse off sap and dry before storage so the sections slide.
Who Should Buy It
- Owners of apple, pear and citrus trees up to about 20 feet.
- Anyone who found a cheap picker too wobbly.
- Mango and avocado growers with mid-height trees.
Common Owner Complaints
Wanting more reach on very tall trees and twigs caught in the basket wires. Buy longer for tall trees; approach from below the fruit.
Technique Tips
Pick the lowest fruit first and extend the pole only as the near fruit runs out, so the pole spends as little time as possible at full length. Come at each fruit from below so the basket cradles it before the wires touch the stem, then twist in the direction the stem bends easiest. Lock every section firmly before raising; a section that slips under load drops the basket into the branches.
Alternatives to Consider
The Walensee 13 foot stainless picker reaches a little further. A cutting-head bag picker suits soft fruit. The rocklobster 6 to 13 foot sectional picker lets you buy the length you need.
Verdict
For a picker that does not wave about at full length, thick aluminium is the right material and this one pairs it with a deep, padded basket at a fair price. For trees under 20 feet it is the picker to buy.

MAVRIZ 5 to 12 Foot Thickened Aluminum Telescoping Fruit Picker Pole with Foam-Padded Basket FAQs
Held overhead by an adult, the basket sits 7 to 8 feet above the hands, so a 12 foot pole reaches fruit around 20 feet up.
Less than thin poles. Thick aluminium is the reason to choose this over cheaper pickers; some flex at full length is unavoidable in any pole.
Three to five apples. The deep basket holds more than shallow designs before lowering.
Firm fruit only. Peaches and figs bruise even on foam; pick those by hand.
