Quick verdict
A freestanding grow light with 108 LEDs, 60 cool white, 32 warm white and 16 red, on an iron stand that adjusts from about 11 to 21.7 inches high, with a 4, 8 or 12 hour auto timer and six brightness levels. A reflector spreads the light. It covers a tray or two of seedlings on a desk or shelf and switches itself on and off daily. It is not a large grow light and a single unit lights roughly one standard tray.
Strengths
- Full spectrum mix of cool white, warm white and red LEDs
- Auto timer at 4, 8 or 12 hours repeats daily
- Six dimming levels from 10 to 100 percent
- Height adjusts from about 11 to 21.7 inches
- Freestanding; no hanging hardware
Weaknesses
- Coverage suits one tray, not a shelf of them
- Twelve hours is the longest timer; seedlings often want 14 to 16
- Stand footprint takes bench space
The overall YardToolLab Score is out of 100. Section scores are out of 10.
Light for the Seedlings on the Desk
Seedlings on a windowsill lean and stretch; even a bright window gives a fraction of the light a seedling wants. A small grow light fixes it. FOXGARDEN’s stand holds 108 LEDs, a mix of cool white, warm white and red, under a reflector on an iron frame that adjusts from about 11 to 21.7 inches, with a daily timer at 4, 8 or 12 hours and six brightness levels. It stands on a desk or shelf with no hanging.
This review is based on the maker’s specifications and on how small freestanding LED grow lights perform for seedlings generally. We have not used this light ourselves.
The Light
White LEDs already give plants the blue and red they use; the sixteen red diodes tilt the mix toward growth. The reflector spreads the beam so one unit covers roughly a standard 10 by 20 tray at seedling height. For a single tray of tomatoes or a cluster of herb pots it is enough; a shelf of trays wants a long strip light instead.
Timer and Dimming
The daily timer is the feature that makes it useful: set 12 hours once and it switches on and off at the same time every day. Seedlings prefer 14 to 16 hours, so either accept slightly slower growth or plug the stand into a cheap outlet timer for longer days. Six dimming levels let you run gently over germinating trays and at full power once leaves appear.
Height
Start the light 4 to 6 inches above the soil and raise it as seedlings grow. The telescoping stand covers the range from germination to transplant size. Watch the plants: stretching means the light is too far, pale or curled leaves mean too close.
Footprint
A freestanding light takes bench space where a hanging strip does not, but it needs no shelf above it and moves anywhere there is an outlet. That makes it the right shape for a desk, a kitchen counter or a windowsill supplement.
Who Should Buy It
- Gardeners starting one or two trays indoors each spring.
- Houseplant owners supplementing a dark corner.
- Anyone without a shelf to hang a strip light from.
Common Owner Complaints
Coverage smaller than hoped and a 12 hour maximum timer. Both are limits of a small desktop light.
Alternatives to Consider
Barrina and Monios-L 2 foot LED strips light a whole shelf of trays. The AC Infinity dome kit includes light bars matched to its tray. A clip-on gooseneck grow light suits a single pot.
Verdict
For a tray of seedlings or a few pots in a spot with no hanging point, this stand gives good light with a timer and dimming for a modest price. Keep it close to the plants, add an outlet timer for longer days and seedlings will grow stocky instead of leggy.

FOXGARDEN Adjustable Height LED Grow Light Stand with 4/8/12H Timer and 6 Dimming Levels FAQs
Start at 4 to 6 inches above the tray and raise it as they grow. Seedlings that stretch want the light closer; leaves that pale want it further.
Seedlings do best with 14 to 16 hours. Run the 12 hour timer and accept slightly slower growth, or plug the stand into a separate timer for longer days.
One standard 10 by 20 tray at seedling height, or a cluster of small pots. For a shelf of trays use a strip light.
White LEDs already contain the blue and red plants use; the added red diodes shift the balance toward growth. It is adequate for seedlings and houseplants.
