The included 2.0Ah battery is its main limitation: repeated owners report roughly five to 15 minutes, especially when they stay on high speed.
It is a reasonable fit for an existing V20 owner with spare batteries or someone who only needs a few minutes of blowing. It is a poor choice for clearing a leaf-covered lawn, moving wet or embedded debris, or finishing a larger property on one included pack.
Exact model: CMCBL700D1 kit versus CMCBL700B tool
The model suffix matters. CRAFTSMAN’s current official page identifies CMCBL700D1 as the kit containing the CMCBL700 blower, one CMCB202 V20 2.0Ah lithium-ion battery and a V20 charger. The tool has a brushed motor and a three-year limited warranty. “20V MAX” describes maximum initial voltage; CRAFTSMAN states nominal voltage is 18V.
Do not automatically transfer figures from the current CMCBL700B tool-only page. CRAFTSMAN lists that related bare tool at 380 CFM, while the D1 kit page and exact D1 retailer record specify up to 340 CFM and 90 MPH. Listings also exist for other kit suffixes and battery capacities. Confirm the full model number and included battery on the box before buying.

What owners consistently like
- Light and easy to grab: recent Lowe’s owners and verified eBay purchasers repeatedly describe the blower as lightweight and easy to handle.
- Useful on hard surfaces: verified eBay feedback is positive for decks and walkways, while Lowe’s owners mention porches, garages and travel-trailer cleanup.
- Enough airflow for loose, dry debris: owners who keep the job small often like the power-to-weight balance. It is more convenient than starting a gas blower or managing an extension cord.
- V20 sharing can offset the short kit runtime: owners with several compatible batteries can swap packs instead of waiting for the included one to recharge.
Runtime is the dominant complaint
The clearest cross-site pattern is short runtime from the included 2.0Ah pack. Lowe’s exact-kit reports commonly describe less than 10 minutes on high, with individual accounts ranging from under five minutes to about 15. RONA owners report a similar range, including one timed high-speed run of 7 minutes 14 seconds. A verified eBay purchaser reported about eight minutes on speed 2 and about 15 minutes on speed 1.
These are owner observations, not controlled YardToolLab measurements. Temperature, debris resistance, battery age, charge state and use of low versus high speed all affect results. A few owners say the battery lasts long enough for their own short task, so the disagreement is mostly about job size and expectations rather than proof that every pack performs identically.
A larger compatible V20 battery can extend working time, but it adds weight and cost. Check the battery manual and current compatibility guidance rather than assuming that an older battery with a similar “20V” label will fit. One verified eBay purchaser specifically reported that an existing CRAFTSMAN drill battery did not fit.
Power, control and debris limits
CRAFTSMAN gives the D1 kit a two-speed trigger: low favors runtime, while high provides more airflow. The integrated scraper can help disturb material stuck to a hard surface, but the tool is not a vacuum or mulcher. Consumer Reports identifies no vacuum capability.
Owner evidence is mixed on force. Some call it strong for its size; others say it is only useful for a few dry leaves or small sticks and wish it had a reducing nozzle. The consistent use boundary is light cleanup. Wet leaf mats, deep lawn accumulation and large fall cleanups need more sustained force and energy than this 2.0Ah kit is designed to provide.
Failure and quality signals
- High-speed control failures: multiple Lowe’s/CRAFTSMAN-syndicated owners report that high speed stopped working while low continued, including one report after about two years.
- Early shutdown or heat: some owners say the tool or battery became hot and stopped. Let the pack cool, follow the manual and contact CRAFTSMAN if shutdown repeats; do not bypass battery protection.
- Battery or charger problems on arrival: a recent verified Lowe’s purchaser received a battery that would not charge even though another compatible pack worked on the same charger.
- Premature total failure: scattered owners report the blower stopping within a season. These reports establish a signal, not a defect rate.
Register the product, retain the dated receipt and record the full model and date code. The official limited warranty is not the same as a retailer’s return window, and coverage depends on its written terms.
Review provenance and evidence limits
Lowe’s displays verified-purchaser labels on some entries and clearly marks some submissions as collected as part of a promotion. It also syndicates feedback from CRAFTSMAN and warns that ratings may include incentivized reviews. We treated promotional reviews as anecdotal and did not use the aggregate score as proof.
RONA’s visible exact-model comments support the short-runtime theme, but the visible entries do not consistently show purchase verification. eBay’s useful comments are marked verified purchase, although several refer to pre-owned units and therefore cannot represent new-product condition.
