Visiting Charlie’s 2nd Hand Store / Tools and Machinery
Charlie’s 2nd Hand Store / Tools and Machinery is a locally run hardware store in Five Points, Colorado, found at 2227 Larimer Street. It is a practical local stop for Five Points gardeners who would rather get plants and know-how from people nearby than from a national chain.
Plants and supplies
As a hardware store, the range usually covers tools and fasteners, paint and plumbing and electrical supplies, and a garden section with soil, plants, hoses, fertiliser and outdoor-power basics. Selection is seasonal, so it shifts through the year with whatever is planting and growing best.
What grows well around Five Points
The Mountain West here brings a cold, high-elevation climate (often USDA zones 4 to 6) with short summers, cold winters and big day-to-night temperature swings. That makes a nearby store genuinely useful, because its stock leans toward hardy perennials, cold-tolerant vegetables, native grasses and short-season fruit that actually do well here. It is worth asking staff about right-plant, right-place choices for your specific spot, soil and sun.
